Deben Willow Care Training

At Deben Willow Care we have a full-time in-house trainer. This allows us to provide our staff existing and new with up to date training. If we provide care for a client and our carers have little knowledge on a condition, procedure, or piece of equipment we can step in and provide additional training very quickly.

We believe the more training and knowledge we can provide our staff with will inturn enable them to provide the best quality of care possible.

We provide a five-day training course which includes the following aspects of care:

  • Manual Handling

  • First Aid

  • Medication

  • Dignity and Respect

  • Lone driver

  • Fire Safety

  • Catheter Care

  • Stoma Care

  • Palliative Care

  • Infection Control including the correct use of PPE

  • Dementia Care, Alzheimer and Parkinson's

  • Mental Health

  • Effective Communication

  • Electron System Training

  • Care Planning Training

  • Health and Safety

  • Covid 19 signs, symptoms, and preventative measures

  • Policies and Procedures

  • Pressure Sore Prevention

  • Whistle blowing

We will then offer two shadow shifts, working with a well-established member of care staff. They will introduce you to caring at Deben Willow Care first-hand. Although with domicillary care you are working predominantly on your own, we are one big team all on hand to help and source advice from. Helping to achieve the main goal; giving quality care from people who really do care!

Our staffs Continued Personal Development is very important to us. To allow, promote and encourage the staff to continue to gain knowledge, support, advice and make them the best they can individually be. In order to do this we have the following in place:

  • We have a resource and development centre at our main office. This provides staff with the ability to access materials that will improve their knowledge on all types of care, medical conditions, medication and procedures.

  • We encourage all staff to gain their NVQ's in health and social care. With the support from our registered manager, supervisor team and trainer our staff can complete these courses, gaining invaluable experience and knowledge.

  • We have 1:1 training available with our management team.

  • Supervisors and personal development reviews are ongoing. Allowing staff to have one on one, face to face meetings.

Development within the company

We fully support development within the company. We have carers that go on to progress within the company, becoming a supervisor. Our Registered Manager started within the company as a supervisor and worked up to a manager. Career progression within the company is fully supported. We also support any carer that wishes to progress into another career within the care industry. We are extremely proud that we have been part of carers becoming Nurses, Social Workers and other health care professionals.
